Full petition text
We ask Newtown City to add a physically separated bike lane between M Street and Pennsylvania Avenue. The corridor has recorded 41 collisions involving cyclists in the last three years. A protected lane, curb-separated and continuous through intersections, would make the route usable for riders of all ages and reduce conflict with turning vehicles.
Why this matters
Right now, riding down 8th Street means sharing a lane with buses and delivery trucks. A protected lane is a simple concrete separation — the same design already used on 4th Street — that makes the trip safe enough for a kid biking to school.
